         Notes for LAVERNE ILA MILLER:  Bill Ramsey, her son, and her daughter, Joyce, report (2010) that Laverne, age  91, still lives and is active in Lynnwood, Washington.

           i.    WILLIAM ALLEN RAMSEY, born 24 July, 1940, Kansas City, Missouri; m. (1) Viola Carla Roswitha Ilona Legarth on 13 Mar 1977 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She was born 25 Jun 1950, Hannover, Germany.  Note: two girls from Viola’s former marriage were adopted by William, when the birth father stated in a deposition that he wanted no part in the raising of the children and gave permission for the adoption to proceed, if William and Viola so desired.  The children were adopted in the state of New South Wales, Australia and at this time their surname changed from Leonhardt to Ramsey.  William and Viola divorced on 17 Aug 1994.

           Brief notes about himself:  "I noticed on one of the emails from you that I had previously lived in Kansas - my birthplace is Kansas City, Missouri in 1940 and we then moved to Omaha, Ne in early 1944 and this is where I grew up.  My dad was transferred to Portland, Oregon in 1957 and I lived there until I went to Australia in Jan 1964.  My dad however was born in Kansas - but I consider myself a definite HUSKER.  I was always called ‘Billy’  by siblings and parents and most of my relatives – my dad was Bill and I was Billy – most people now call me Bill.

            I worked almost all of my working life in information technology or data processing as it was known when i started out.  I started working with the First National Bank of Portland in June 1958.    My first job after arriving in Australia was with the Fisher Library, University of Sydney.  I had a difficult time finding a job as prospective employers thought I would leave after a short time and return to the USA.  The job at the university was a low level job and they were having no luck in finding someone to look after a ‘book borrowing system’ based on IBM equipment and punch cards.  I worked for a number of companies in the succeeding years in Sydney, Adelaide and Melbourne. I fully retired in Dec 2008."

    Oct 1946 in Tarrant Co. Texas.  She was born 16 Dec 1923 in Moosup, Connecticut.

 

Notes for VIRGIL OWEN MILLER:  Served in WWII. He graduated from Aviation Cadet School in Carlsbad, New Mexico March 21 1945 as a Second Lieutenant.   He was a fighter pilot in the 64th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 57th Fighter-Interceptor Group, Elmendorf Air Force Base, and Anchorage, Alaska.  He was killed in an F-80 Shooting Star crash 10 miles south east of Anchorage on February 13, 1951.  His remains are buried in Hartington City Cemetery.
