This is page one of two pages of historical information
about Morgan Lewis Payne who is the Uncle of Permelia Ann Payne, my great
grandmother. Her father was John Payne, Jr.
See
Page Two.
For those who are interested, you will find below the
narrative, pictures of Chief Black Hawk. In the first he is shown in
his Chief of the Sauk Indians regalia and in the second drawing he is
depicted later in life in his "civilized" dress.
Also, you will find a Internet connection to a Black
Hawk biography.
Interestingly enough, Black Hawk's people were sent to a reservation in
Tama County, Iowa where his descendents live today on the Mesquakie Indian
Reservation. This reservation is just a "hop, skip and a jump" from
land owned by the father of Permelia Ann Payne's husband, Joseph
Malcom.
