Emma Althea Lake Humphreys and Joshua H. Humphreys
These photos were taken during the years that Josh, Emma ,son Fred, daughter-in law-Annie Joy and son Frank live near Minot, North Dakota between the years 1903 or 04 and 1910 when they move to Ravenscrag, Saskatchewan. The portraits of Annie and Fred were all taken by the same photography studio in Minot. Josh and Emma's portraits are marked Mrs. Jennie L. Lake, Redwood Falls, Minn. This is machine printed on the frame in the lower left hand corner. Redwood Falls, Minnesota is more than 300 miles from Minot, N.D. Perhaps Josh and Emma had their photo taken by a family relative living in Redwood Falls. I have recently reread a letter I received from my Uncle Don in 1996 (Donald Humphreys Malcom) and he said that one of Emma's brothers lived in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. That would be Charles Wilber Lake and his second or third wife, Jennie M. Stiles Lake Notice that Emma is wearing the same brooch that she is wearing in an earlier photo and the same or an identical lace collar.

Annie Joy Bullock Humphreys and Frederick Lake Humphreys
Annie Joy looks like a very sweet person to me. She is wearing Emma's watch pin. Fred looks confident and well dressed. If you look closely you can see that the hair on the front and top of his head are drawn in by the photographer (not really too unusual in those days).

◄Frank William Humphreys. He looks all grown up an cleaned up from the former photo we have of him in Tennessee. it is during these years that Frank is married to Lillie Sorenson from Wisconsin in 1905.
Fred and Annie Joy's second child, Archie, is born in 1907 at Lynch, North Dakota. This place has disappeared from today's North Dakota maps. Maybe they didn't like the name or it has been absorbed by another town or city. I am assuming that is was somewhere near Minot.
It is during these years, my branch of the Malcom family loses touch and has very little information about Josh, Emma, Fred and Frank and their families except for an occasional visit or letter.
