What you see here is the first page of a letter written by Emma Humphreys to her daughter in Oto, Iowa.  The script is in pencil and she refers to the marriage of Donald Humphreys Malcom and Mary Inman.  Donald is Minnie's youngest child and Emma's grandson.   Emma is 83 years old, 5 years before her death at 88.  Joshua, her husband has been buried and gone for 10 years.

This poignant letter shows a woman who is eager for news of  her grandchildren who she hasn't seen for 9 years. She would like to visit but lives so far away and is unsure whether she is welcome.  The footnote at the bottom of the last page indicates the hardships of farming in Saskatchewan.
